SXSW SPOTLIGHT: OVERCOATS
New York based duo, Hana Elion and JJ Mitchell aka Overcoats are the songwriting-harmonizing-electronic-folk-songstresses that dreams are made of. They describe their sound as “a sort of Chet Faker meets Simon & Garfunkel.” Their self-titled EP debuted in June of 2015, with a four song track-list. After embarking on a three-month tour playing noteworthy stops like Whelans in Dublin and a showcase at Longitude Festival, Overcoats continued songwriting and set out to make new music. Overcoats’ debut album, Young, is expected to release April 21st, 2017.
Today, the third single from their debut album, “Leave the Light On,” was released via Apple Music on Zane Lowe‘s Beats1 show. Overcoats will be going on tour this month in support of recently discovered musical genius, Maggie Rogers.
The duo will also be playing a set for Culture Collide at SXSW next week, Thursday, March 16th at Bar 96. If you’ll be at the festival, remember to RSVP! Check out their new song and more music below.
