“There’s nothing low-key about it. I feel like the album is very aggressive and very abrasive. It jumps out at you. Lyrically, I’m always one for clarity and I don’t think people will miss anything.” – Pusha T told Rolling Stone

Kanye West walks into a building and asks you to be the president of his G.O.O.D. Music label. Would you accept? Pusha T did. Not only did he accept the job in November of 2015, but he quickly (and masterfully) finished his second solo album Darkest Before Dawn, and released it in December of 2015 through G.O.O.D. Music.

Pusha T started his musical career in the beachy/skater town of Virgina Beach, Virgina, with his brother Gene “No Malice” Thornton, as a hip-hop duo called Clipse. They began working with music heavyweight/connoisseur, Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes, who eventually signed the duo to Arista Records, through Williams’ Star Trak Entertainment. Their debut album, Lord Willin’, opened at #1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-hop Album chart. Clipse continued to keep their hot momentum going with features on Justin Timberlake’s debut album and a few other massive artists during that time.

After releasing two more albums through a merge with Jive Records, the brothers decided to venture into their own respective solo projects in 2010. Later that year, Pusha T announced that he had signed to Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music label, and soon after, released his solo mixtape Fear Of God. In October 2013, Pusha T released his debut solo album My Name Is My Name, to much success.

Following My Name Is My Name, Pusha T released his second solo album, Darkest Before Dawn, on December 18th, 2015. The album has already achieved stellar success with hitting over 17 million streams in it’s first week. “I feel like my lyrics are just dark and scathing. I feel like the lyrics on Darkest Before Dawn are uncompromised hip-hop and really speaking to my core fan base. Basically what’s been known in my discography the entire time. I feel like I’m the last rap superhero. I really do. I feel like everybody else, they seem to be a bit victimized and I don’t feel like that’s me,” he tells Rolling Stone magazine.

Pusha T is now about to embark on a 28-date North American/European tour starting March 3rd, 2016, to promote Darkest Before Dawn. Uh, work much? I feel you. I appreciate you.
