The best part about living in Santa Barbara when Coachella rolls around is the fact that we receive more activity than normal in the live music department. With Goldenvoice taking over the beloved Santa Barbara Bowl – we can definitely expect a stacked agenda over the course of those two weeks. This isn’t to say that it will be the only time of the year we’ll be forced with the concept of having to “choose” which show to go to – lucky for us, the Santa Barbara Bowl season doesn’t end until November-ish. If you have yet to attend a show at the SB Bowl, here’s your fair warning that the season is not that far away – and will be one not to miss out on.

The first Santa Barbara bowl announcement took place yesterday consisting of The 1975 with The Japanese House (!!!) These are 2 acts I’m extremely excited about for a variety of reasons. The 1975 will make their Santa Barbara Bowl debut on April 21 at 7:00 PM. The band is touring in support of their much-anticipated sophomore album, I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it. The album is available February 26, 2016 via Dirty Hit/Interscope (grab the album on iTunes here).

Color me extra excited about the opening act The Japanese House, an amazing choice for the evening. Once you listen to the band, you’ll understand why *insert winking emoji*. If you’re not familiar with The Japanese House, time to dig into both EPs that were released last year (find them both below via SoundCloud.) P.S. If you think you recognize Matty Healy’s voice in one of the tracks, it’s because it’s him (both Healy and George Daniel co-produced multiple tracks).

Tickets go on sale here Saturday, January 16 at 11:00 am and also at the Santa Barbara Bowl Box Office. SEE YOU THERE!
